So with a small recess the group dispersed to stretch their limbs after several hours of sitting listening to the trade delegation debating over the same thing again and again. Doji Maeme reminded them that they would be reconvening at the opposite cliff to watch the sunset over the ocean. Kitsu seemed the most pleased to finally end the endless debate and rested his head against a wall to clear his headache. Everyone walked around the festival, now in full swing, looking at the variety of stalls, shows and games. Shosuro Shinriko spent a little money on some more games and won a few little trinkets. Hida Kengetsu competed in a few strength tests and demonstrated his superior muscle to his competition and spectators. Shinjo Luke took the time to go change into some sandals he had so that his feet would not be so pinched for the next couple hours of sitting.
As the hour of Shiba started to wind down and the hour of Bayushi begun its dark approach the group made their way to the western cliff side about a thousand feet from the palace. There a small table surrounded by torches awaited them. Doji Maeme was already there setting up some tea. Soon the rest of the delegates, , the five Doji with their accompanying Daidoji yojimbos and the nine Mantis courtiers, also arrived and sat around the table as tea was served. Within minutes of sitting the sun begun its final descendant over the ocean the delegates once again begun their seemingly endless debate. After a while the torches were lit as the sun completely disappeared under the horizon leaving only the flickering torches to cast light over the meeting. Doji Maeme continued to serve tea to everyone as the debate continued.
After about half an hour the group notices that three of the five Daidoji yojimbos were nodding off. As the group exchanged glances, Akodo Akio “sneezes” loudly startling the yojimbos back to awareness. Doji Maeme glared at Akodo and asked if was ok and if the delegates could continue uninterrupted. Akodo said that he felt much better now and apologized for interrupting the meeting. For a while the conversation continued but it was quite noticeable getting more and more heated as the debate dragged on. After a while the shouting got louder and less civil. Doji Maeme tried serving more tea to keep people civilized. After a few more minutes the four of the five yojimbos suddenly collapsed and with a roar of outrage the nine Mantis drew their katanas and charged their counterparts. With an outrage the group drew their weapons but were unable to prepare before the Mantis came upon them…except for Kakita Hikaru:

All of a sudden Hiroyuki starts convulsing and blood begun spewing from his mouth. Kakita and Shosuro rush to his side and are able to determine that he has been poisoned by some sort of snake venom. Kakita finds the wound over his right kidney and immediately starts removing the poison. Shinjo sees this and runs off to get help to the best of his ability without letting his intestines spilling out of his gut. Hida brought Akodo back up and looked at Shosuro and Kakita. Seeing that they had the situation handled to the best of their abilities there Hida, with Akodo on his shoulder, and Kitsu followed after Shinjo. All four of them decided to head towards the palace. Shinjo arrived before the rest but headed towards the stables instead of continuing on towards castle. While Shinjo tacked up his horse Kitsu and Hida carrying Akodo, ran past the stables towards the castle.
They were met at the entrance by a couple guards who were surprised to see their distinguished guests arrive covered in blood. Hida said that the courtiers had attacked eachother and needed medical attention. They also needed Isawa Masanori. One of the guards ran off to get Isawa and reinforcements. Hida placed Akodo on the ground and kept preasure over the wound to help prevent Akodo from dying. After a short wait Shinjo arrived as well as several Mantis approached from the other direction. He yelled at the guards to bring Isawa Masanori and they answered that word had already been sent and was soon followed by Isawa Masanori himself. Seeing the approaching Mantis he jumped onto the horse behind Shinjo and yelled at him to ride despite the protests of the approaching Mantis. After they rode off Hida, Kitsu and Akodo were surrounded by the Mantis with their weapons out and requested that they hand over their weapons. Hida protested them drawing weapons on a fallen enemy and took his daisho on the ground and went back to attending Akodo. The Mantis guard picked up the daisho and then turned to Kitsu. After a long moment of silence until Hida looked up and told Kitsu they were not worth it. Kitsu handed them his katana and then his wakizashi after further questioning. The Mantis then take Akodo’s daisho as well and then carefully watch the three.
Meanwhile Shinjo rode up with Isawa back to the waiting people. During the time everyone was away Shosuro had inspected them fallen yojimbos and had arranged all the living people in a row for them to be able to be easily attended to while Kakita did her best to keep the poison at bay. Doji Maeme seemed genuinely concerned over the safety and wellbeing of Doji Hiroyuki. When Isawa and Shinjo arrived Isawa jumped off the horse and rushed over. On the way Shinjo had told Isawa the situation so as soon as he got down he cast a water spell and quickly placed his hands on Doji Hiroyuki. As he did so the poison dripped out the small puncture wound. After a few moments Hiroyuki’s breathing stabilized. Isawa then went over to the tea and tasted it with his finger. With a spit he nodded that it was poisoned. He took a vial out of his obi and poured some of the tea into it before knocking the rest of the tea onto the ground. He then looked at Shosuro and Kakita, as they heard the approaching Mantis in the distance, and told them that they had a decision to make; they could either fight there way out, sneak out or talk their way out of the situation. The two samurai-ko looked at each other and agreed that talking their way out would probably be the best solution. Isawa only looked a little disappointed.
