As the hour of Hantei approaches, the shugenja have finished their blessing of the courtyard grounds. Their prayer drums echo from the temple across the river. Kakita Hikaru wins the Topaz Championship!
At the end of the Fealty Ceremony you gather together with your friends to reflect upon your successes. Your attention is turns to a bent old man wearing a brilliant blue scarf. Megumi, the Fortune of Heroic Deeds, smiles upon each of you and in a voice louder then you could believe could come of his aged frame he proclaims to everyone “Bear witness, for these are among the chosen”. And where the old man stood a blue collared crane leaps into the sky, heading for the sun.
After this Megumi met with Kitsu and bestowed upon a multicolored liquid in a flask. He simply told him to drink it when the time was right. When Kitsu asked when he would know Megumi simply answered “you will”.
At this point they were confronted by Isawa Masanori, an ancient Phoenix Shugenja, who walked up and hugged Doji Satsume. He then looked at the gathered group and arrogantly informed them that they were coming with him. He was on a mission to procure scrolls fro the Setuban Festival. They humbly and politely agreed. Isawa Masanori also introduced them to a new arrival for the group Kitsu. Kitsu is a shugenja from the Lion clan specializing in Ghosts and Ancestors.
After some free time they each met individually with their masters where they were congratulated and given a steed and some spending money. Also each one received a special reward from their masters.
After the meeting everyone decided to meet up at the Shosuro sake house for one last drink. There they also met up with the other contestants, minus Hida Fujizaka, and Bayushi Sugai. They were also joined by the lovely Kakita Asami and Doji Kuwanan’s fiance Matsu Nosuriko. It seems also that at some point Toku and Doji Kuwanan started to become quite close.
As the dinner went on Kakita Asami tried to make her former love Doji Kuwanan jealous by making attempting to seduce Akodo Akio. Such actions made him very nervous but he was able to fend her off by telling her a handful of interesting tales including a splendid rendition of the tale of the original Kakita and Doji.
Doji Kuwanan then got in a discussion with Akodo about Bushido and showing ones devotion to bushido thru both actions and words. With a little skill, and some assitance from Kitsu, Akodo was able to come up on top of the discussion and be praised by all around. Matsu Nosuriko then proceeded tell her fiance to “leave the pretty Kakita alone and come back to the celebration”. At this point the drinking continued and for most people fade to black.
The next morning they were woke up (loudly) by the yojimbo Shiba as he told everyone to be ready for the next day departure. All the group proceeded to purchase a variety of items they thought would be necessary for the trip around the Empire.
